Familiar Strangers is a candid photo series I started in summer of 2023. On my days off, I’d go to the local park with my camera and walk laps around the track. I started taking in the people as they passed, each caught up in their own world. Strangers with different stories, moods, and reasons for being there , walking around the same track unknowingly sharing the same space for a brief moment in time. That quiet overlap of lives became the idea for this series. Inspired by my curiosity of the human experience, the series is about photographing people just as they are without interference.The name of the series is called Familiar Strangers because each image holds a small moment of a stranger, yet in their gestures, stillness, or expressions, there’s a thin thread of humanity that feels familiar. The images in this photo series celebrate Accidentalism, by highlighting the unintentional art we weave into our everyday lives.
